The Urban Essence

so this is my final piece of work for a giant series of work for a coursework unit(Exam) it's a complex piece of work, and really should be viewed by eye. It's hard to capture in a photograph.
made with:
cardboard, layers of modeling paste on top to the texture of the stones, then painted on top with acrylic. Corrogated cardboard on the side. The whole thing is fully textured and 3d basically, it was hard to paint and I had to basically go with the flow and the textures provided by the paste. An awesome challenge though, of course. so that's what I mean about the photo. So its basically a combination of many of the things that fascinate me about the urban landscape. The girl on top is from a photo taken by a hugely talented photographer mate of mine, Ieva. search for her on deviantart. pretty awesome.
Anyway, the textured wall is a peculiar surface found in old nicosia I was very keen to recreate. the stones are so bizarely put together. No symmetry, nothing. And this keeps a wall together. The top layer has worn away, as you can see. Right, shall stop babbling, make what you want of it.
